India and the Jews

A fascinating evening rich in the Jewish traditions, culture, cuisine and
history of India.

With a three course delicious Indian dinner catered by Royale Cuisine*

We will be delighted to welcome our distinguished Guest of Honour
Acting High Commissioner of India to the United Kingdom
H. E. Ambassador Rajesh N. Prasad
The ambassador will speak about the rich historical
and cultural ties between India and the Jews.

During the dinner , popular KLC historian Dr. Charles Landau will speak on:

Indian Jews - A Breath of Fresh Air
Probably the most ancient Jewish community in the world and may be part of the
'Ten Lost tribes'.  Divided into three distinct entities, these ancient exotic groups
never experienced anti-Semitism and absorbed many of the local customs and
manners without assimilating. The secret of Indian tolerance is the Hindu attitude
to diversity of religious belief. Today the community is small but its heritage is
colourful, different and exciting.
