MONSIEUR BATIGNOLE

Introduction to the film by Rabbi Mirvis.
In presenting an escape against the odds, Monsieur Batignole puts a kind touch on the events which took place in Nazi occupied France. Edmond Batignole is a butcher living in Paris who finds himself in the unexpected position of saving the life of a Jewish boy. Batignole, who seems to be oblivious and apathetic towards the Jewish situation in France, has a rude awakening when put in the position of hiding the boy from his future son-in-law, a collaborator of the Nazis. After several days of hiding, he realises that the only way to save the boy's life is to help him escape to Switzerland, but is he willing to put his own life at risk to do so?
